KNX is a standard wired automation protocol that was developed to enable products from different manufacturers to work together seamlessly. The system works on a standardized bus cable allowing different products to work together.
The cables are all isolated to ensure that there are not any communication problems between devices, this will guarantee a stable system and fast response

How Does KNX Works?
The main component of the KNX System is the bus line, it acts as a nervous system for the system, It is a green cable that is inserted in addition to the normal power line during a new construction or restoration project.
All of the different building technology elements are then connected via the main KNX bus line following the KNX standard for building automation.
The system is then managed by such things as sensors, parameters, etc. — which can then be easily controlled by end users with a laptop, smartphone, or tablet device.
System Components:
Sensors:(e.g. push buttons, thermostats, movement) gather information and send it on the bus as a data telegram.
Actuators (dimming units, heating valves, displays) receive data telegrams which are then converted into actions; and controllers and other logic functions (room temperature controllers, shutter controllers, and others)
System devices and components (e.g. line couplers, backbone couplers).
The Building Automation Devices are programmed using software called ETS (Engineering Tool Software), you can connect the bus to the software using a USB Interface, or IP Interface
